We are delighted to announce that we now have a brand new 7Kw EV charging point at the Captains Cottage, providing secure off-street electric vehicle charging in our garage for our any of our guests with an electric vehicle.
The charging point is powered by VoltShare, a leading installer and operator of EV charging points in the UK, and is compatible with all electric cars.
How To Use The Charger
You can pay to charge your car either by scanning the QR code in the garage, or by downloading an app to your phone and signing up to Voltshare’s network before you arrive.
The cost to charge is currently just 38p per kWh (including VAT) which is considerably less than other local ‘commercial’ charging points. This means charging your car overnight using our 7Kw charger while it is safely tucked away in our garage is your best option during your holiday in Devon.
You will need to bring your own charging cable to connect to the EV point.
With some UK cars still having Type 1 connections, asking our guests to bring their own cable to connect to the universal fitting on the Voltshare unit guarantees compatibility for your car.

Charging Instructions
How to charge in 4 simple steps
- Connect your EV & scan the QR code on the charging point
- Enter your payment card in the VoltShare app
- Click on “Start charging”
- Unplug your EV to end the session
The unit is a 7kW charger, so your car should be fully charged in around 3-5 hours (depending on type and model of car).
As part of their commitment to a greener future, VoltShare also recapture between 2000-3000 kg of CO2 for each charging point installed.
